Law Enforcement Applicants:
Your
interest in seeking a career in Law Enforcement with the Opelousas Police
Department is greatly appreciated. An Application for Competitive
Examination must be completed to gain eligibility for hire. This
application may be obtained at the Opelousas Fire and Police Civil Service
Office located in Opelousas City Hall. Upon approval by the Opelousas Fire
and Police Civil Service Board, a list of eligible applicants is available to
the office of the Chief of Police. The Opelousas Police Department's
Interview Committee, comprised of Law Enforcement Officers, is responsible for
interviewing all eligible applicants. At the completion of interviews,
selected applicants will be contracted by a representative of the Opelousas
Police Department.
All newly hired Police Officers/Recruits must be able to pass a Physical
Condition Assessment graded by Cooper's Standards for Law Enforcement Personnel,
sign a contract regarding reimbursement to the City of Opelousas if he/she
terminates employment within two years from date of hire and successfully pass a
psychological evaluation for law enforcement. Applicants with prior law
enforcement experience who have successfully passed or failed a psychological
evaluation for law enforcement should advise the Interview Committee. If
obtainable, forward a copy of your evaluation results.
Attachments, copies of forms used by the Opelousas Police Department/City of
Opelousas, regarding the physical condition assessment and contract have been
